The foundations of the latest Graham Cutler collection date back to 1969, when the doors opened to the Knightsbridge store. Three new optical silhouettes are introduced that balance form and function to immaculate results.
Cutler and Gross is a brand of two perspectives. Mr Gross was an extrovert with maximalist vision, while Mr Cutler was the quieter of the two, spending hours, often days fixated on fit and function.
Over time, Mr Cutler built up a collection of frames tailored to slighter proportions, and he kept them in a drawer in the Knightsbridge store. When customers with more refined features came through the door, he’d dip into his collection and find a frame that suited.
This formed the starting point for the Graham Cutler collection – a continuous curation of frames that distil our distinctive silhouettes into refined proportions.
“I am the technician, Mr Gross is the tastemaker, and those gifts sing harmoniously together.”
Mr Graham Cutler, 1985
This season, three new optical silhouettes enter the collection. Presented in vintage-inspired hues with winged lugs and keyhole bridges, the frames nod to archive designs, while intricate milling and slim temples lighten the weight.
Butter Crystal – a transparent hue with warm yellow notes – is the latest Colour Studio acetate to be introduced. The GR09, GR10, and GR11 frames in Butter Crystal are crafted from a single sheet of raw material that will never be re-issued.
The glasses balance technicality and taste, craftsmanship and comfort, to succinctly epitomise Graham Cutler’s vision.
