Following the mad success of the Giles Deacon for Cutler and Gross Scooby and Daphers frames, this season’s Sonic is our third collaboration piece. The Sonic frame was designed in tandem with the Giles Spring/Summer 2012 collection entitled “Silver Swan” which drew inspiration from cygnets and a silver Victorian mechanical swan on display at The Bowes Museum in Barnard castle, County Durham, England.
The Sonic sunglasses come in four options that Design Director Marie Wilkinson describes as “tone-on-tone” flesh with smokey lenses, grubby white with brown lenses, red with bright red lenses and black with electric blue lenses.
The Sonic frame maintains its elegance with concealed pins, aligning with Deacon’s vision of a woman who is seeking “elegant, unique clothes and accessories that employ high standards of workmanship.” Speaking of the Sonic design that evolved from his drawings of actual swans, Giles explains: “I wanted them to have the same elegant mysteriousness that swans do.”
