Supporting one of our finest collaborations, it’s consistently a pleasure attending the Maison Martin Margiela Men’s Spring/Summer 2013 runway presentation this past weekend in Paris at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, a nineteenth century mansion.
A constant, unwavering force, MMM showed a collection of classic pieces with cut-off jacket sleeves and strong shoulders displaced forward to sculpt the wearer. The brand’s classic jacket and pea coat were recast in oversized corduroy while a napa waistcoat became “summer fur.”
The ‘Replicas’ of the season were evening classics tailored in metallic cotton. Sculpted pieces were finished with relaxed detailing such as drawstring waists and accessories such as moccasins and espadrilles while aluminium can rings were embroidered, creating a chainmail effect.
