Erdem launches second collaboration with Cutler and Gross

By Sam Mohammadi

The Marlene frame is the second collaboration between Montreal born designer Erdem Moralioglu and Cutler and Gross. Winner of the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, Erdem named the Marlene frame after his mother.

Luxe florals and lace used in the designer’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection have been encapsuated in the frame’s acetate, and designed in the classic Cutler and Gross aesthetic. The Marlene glasses come in four colour options: Royal Navy, White Lace Ecru, Black Lace and a silk print entitled Ystad Flower.

Dark lenses serve to enhance the luxurious fabrics. London-based Erdem describes the wearer of the Marlene frame as a woman who is “chic, independent and marches to the beat of her own drum.” Marie Wilkinson, Design Director of Cutler and Gross sees the wearer as “bold, confident and inquisitive” and says the glasses are for “a woman who wants to explore the world.”
